Drymere Lodge Boarding Cattery is fully licensed by Breckland Council. We are in a peaceful and secluded location on the edge of the Thetford Forest.
Our accommodation comprises 26 pens plus an isolation facility. Of these 26 pens, 2 are family units able to house 3 or 4 cats from the same household. Twenty-four of our pens are double units capable of housing 1 or 2 cats from the same household.
The cattery is built to Feline Advisory Board (FAB) standards in terms of construction, space and layout.
All pens have an indoor cabin which is fully insulated and an outside covered run. There is a safety corridor for security of your cat and doors to the corridor are kept closed and locked at all times. The sleeping and eating area has a door which is closed at night. Cats have access to the outdoor run through a cat flap door. All pens have the required ‘sneeze barrier’ gap between them to prevent any cat coming into direct contact with another cat.
All pens are provided with a safe tubular heater and thermostat control so that the temperature can be controlled to suit the climate and individual needs.
A shelf is provided, upon which a bed can be placed for sleeping off the floor. Hooded litter trays are provided; however we can also provide the non-hooded variety if requested.
We provide scratching and sitting posts, as well as a chair and some toys. We also provide beds and fleece blankets; however, owners are welcome to bring their own bedding provided this is cleaned before boarding the cat and also any favourite toys or other items.
We aim to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Each pen is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected following departure of any cats. We use a pet-safe disinfectant/cleaner manufactured for kennel and cattery use. We follow the instructions provided by the Feline Advisory Board (FAB) in respect of the correct procedure to provide a safe and clean environment for your cat.
Litter trays are changed for a clean and safely disinfected tray each morning. During the day, trays are inspected and changed or cleaned as required. Feeding bowls are changed with each meal time and water bowls are changed and thoroughly washed daily (or more frequently if needed) with the water change. Each day pens are swept clean both inside and outside, including the sleeping area and bedding. Each pen is provided with its own litter scoop and dustpan and brush.
We aim to maintain a clean environment, and in order to help us do so we would request that prior to boarding you ensure that your cat is up-to-date with flea and worm treatments. We would ask that you aim to ensure your cat is treated for fleas a few days prior to being boarded with us.
